TDSB hosts Canada's largest ESL Conference

TDSB hosts Canada's largest ESL Conference

Five keynote speakers, 89 workshops and more than 1,400 participants highlight this year's TDSB Celebrating Linguistic Diversity Conference.

This annual conference for elementary and secondary teachers of English language learners will be hosted on April 29 and 30 at the Ontario Insitute for Studies in Education (OISE) at 252 Bloor St. W.

As a partnership with OISE and the University of Toronto, the conference has grown into the premier learning and networking event of the year for ESL teachers from across Ontario.

This year's keynote speakers include Bilaal Rajan, the 13-year-old Canadian UNICEF Ambassador, author and fundraiser who has already raised more than $5 million for children living in poverty.

Other keynotes include Monika Delmos, Director of the award-winning NFB film "Everybody's Children" and Dr. Roma Chumak-Horbatsch of Ryerson University, who will speak on her work in encouraging families to maintain their children's home language.

For more information, including a registration form and descriptions of all 89 workshops, download the conference brochure.
