Strategies for Optimizing ESP Teaching

Dimitrie Cantemir University located in Targu Mures is organizing an international workshop titled "Strategies for Optimizing Quality Standards in Higher Education English for Specific Purposes".

The three main topics of the workshop are to identify evidence-based state of the art strategies for optimizing quality management in:

1. ESP Teaching/Learning

2. ESP Continuous Education and Teacher Training

3. ESP Research.

The objectives of the workshop are:

1. to identify evidence-based strategies of optimizing ESP teaching in Romanian higher education through the sharing of expertise, examples of best practices and state of the art developments from famous Romanian and international universities as well as international associations responsible for quality management in ELT;

2. to disseminate the explored strategies through publication of a Handbook of Best Practices in Higher Education ESP;

3. to contribute to the continuous education of participants through transmission of fundamental knowledge of quality management and practical applications so that eventually the participants will be able to identify, compare, contrast, evaluate and apply different strategies for optimizing the ESP quality standard in their own institutions;

4.to promote a credit-based system of continuous education for ESP teachers and identify alternative e-learning TT courses;

5. to foster collaboration in ESP research and international cooperation;

6.to find alternative ways of effective information, communication and involvement in national scientific events through teacher networking and implementation of an ESP database.
